Tū Mai Rā Energy is a Māori-owned solar company operating from Matakokiri Drive in Tauranga and working across Aotearoa. It began in May 2019 as Tū Mai Rā Solar Solutions, a partnership between Tū Mai Rā Investments, Ice Solutions and Poutama, which opened a solar research and development facility in Gisborne. The name changed to Tū Mai Rā Energy as the business moved into other forms of energy. The name means to stand before the sun, and the stated kaupapa is energy self-sufficiency for Māori communities and papakāinga. The team includes its own electricians and installers, so design and installation are handled in house.
