It's a Community Hub within a Unique Destination

The development of a community hub at the Tauranga Historic Village was one of the key proposals under consideration by the local council. The new community hub will bring together diverse groups of community stakeholders in a central location. The proposed project would see TECT purchase land on the Village’s grounds from the Council and develop the adjacent green space for community use. The community organisations involved wish to see improved visitor numbers, sharing with greater Tauranga, the historic guildings on 17th Ave.

For example, the Forrester’s Lodge hall was refurbished and given back to the community. This is all part of the project’s mission to preserve the history of the area. If you’re staying in the area, the Historic Village is located on 17th Avenue.

The Tauranga Historic Village within the Bay of Plenty, centres on creating an atmosphere of an old style town. With a collection of original and replica buildings of Tauranga, strolling the cobbled streets of the village allows you to experience and feel what it was like to live many years ago.

These wonderful buildings show much character and personality. Over the years this wonderful place is now home 50 businesses including shops and community organizations. Around the back of the Historic Village is also a small walk that loops around and up onto the neighboring road. Here you walk through a bit of natural bush surrounds where the trees are full of chirping birds.
